People don't remember who you were, they remember who you are now. Be who you need to be right now without dwelling on what you've been before. The past is past.
This also brings up something that has been on my mind a lot recently. It is so important to live in the right now. To really experience life as it is happening. The only way to do this is to quiet your mind enough that you are able to hear what the Holy Spirit is telling you. You know that Jesus Christ is real. You know that we are to be led by the Spirit, yet how many of us are really listening for Him? When we stop to be alive to the moment we are in, all of a sudden we are more clear headed. We make decisions more rationally. We will recognize that this moment we are in right now, isn't going to last for very long. When it's over, it's over. This moment is important. There is no going back. So, by living with our minds set on today, it actually sets our minds upon eternity. What we do right now matters, because it's all or nothing. We are not guaranteed another minute. With this mentality we will make right decisions, knowing that we will reap a consequence for what we do. How many of us just hobble along life without really thinking about what we are doing? We don't have too much time to make the impact we hope to make in this lifetime! The time is passing quickly and we need to be awake to experience it. There is something to the new age philosophy of being fully conscious. I don't believe that is all there is to life. But, God does want us to experience this life he's given us. I personally find myself caught up in thinking too much to even realize my life is set before me. My husband, my children, my friends, family, needy right down the street. This is for real. And, what I do today effects how my forever turns out. Clear your mind enough that you can experience right now to it's very fullest. If you allow yourself to feel the moment, in all of it's hurts or joys, your memory of it will last a lot longer. We tend to clamp ourselves off from whatever is happening, because of unforgiveness or bitterness that we've been harboring for way too long. When you have a heart that is angry you do not allow your feelings to be exposed. As women, we need to be in control of our emotions, but able to let them flow freely when appropriate. This is natural. The best thing of all is really thinking about TODAY, putting your all into today, knowing that This Day is a gift from above. Dance with your children. Laugh. You have the ability to make today the best it can be. Enjoy each moment as you live it out.
I also want to note that I used to have such a difficult time with HOPE. I never could get beyond the moment. When I gave my life to Jesus Christ I met Hope in person. He has given me something beyond myself to yearn for, to believe in, to rely upon. With Him, I know there is more to life than right now. I have since learned that when He created the world, He made certain dynamics to it. One is the law of sowing and reaping. With this, I can believe that there will be a consequence to my actions. Each decision will reap eventually. This can work for me as a blessing or a curse. I can rely on this, knowing my life really does make a difference, sometimes an eternal difference, sometimes a moment by moment difference. For instance, when my house is a wreck, I have a choice. I can either get disappointed and think that I have no effect on my circumstances or I can realize that I can make a difference on how my tomorrow will be. If I decide to rely on sowing a clean home, tomorrow I will wake to a nice house. This is a simple analogy of the law of sowing and reaping, but this works for larger things as well. We just have to believe that when we sow good seed, we will reap the harvest. Even if it seems that there is nothing growing yet. Someday, God will see to it that it does. I'm learning to live in my "new man" as I learn to not weary in doing good, because God's promises are true.
Philippians 3:13,14
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before{me - to experience}, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Thankyou once again, Mercy. This is a really encouraging post.
This is just what I needed right now...things have been tough, and right now I just need to live for today. And to think that today is all I have.
Thanks!
Blessings!
Heather
