Shine On Dear Sink!

I just shined up my sink and it feels SO great! I try to accomplish this at least once per day. I'd love to say it was always shined up, but it's not always. In fact, I can go (especially on the weekend) a few days. And, ugh, getting up the motivation to get those dishes out of there can be daunting! So, it's best to keep it up. I think that it helps to remember that great feeling you get when you can see the counters cleared & the sink empty. When you think on how amazing it feels to see the job accomplished, it can get you started. When it's been awhile though, it can be difficult to remember and instead of thinking of the joy of accomplishment, you dread the work. Of course when it comes down to it, there's really not a whole lot to be done. Sometimes if you can get yourself to just rinse off the dishes (or have the children do it!) then you will probably wind up finishing the job, because you've already done the "hard" part. One thing that helps me too is I always keep one side open, so I can remember the glimpse of what that empty sink looks like. Even if I have dishes piled up on the side of the counter, I do try to keep that one side without them. Not only does it motivate you (because actually it doesn't look like as much!) since you seem to already have one side done, but also it is healthier. We are always washing our hands, after changing dirty diapers, working with meat, etc. so it's nice to know that the germs are not going onto the dishes. Anyway, whatever your method, rejoice in the job accomplished!

You must have gone over to visit the flylady! That's the first thing she tells you to do, shine your sink!

Yesterday my oldest son surprized me by loading the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I was so pleased when I came home from a very short trip to the store!

I must agree though, I like LFL & Candy's site much better.
